Rachel Edmonds ’12
Management and Program Analyst, Social Security Administration
Math Major
Rachel Edmonds is a social science research analyst at the U. S.
Social Security Administration (SSA). In this role, Rachel is
responsible for maintaining and tracking the predictive models used in
SSA’s quick disability process. Prior to SSA, Rachel was a U.S. Peace
Corps volunteer where she served in Lesotho as a secondary education
volunteer. After completing her service in December 2014, Rachel wanted
to pursue a career in monitoring and evaluation. Using her
non-competitive eligibility status, which gives return Peace Corps
volunteers’ special hiring status for federal employment, in July 2015,
Rachel received a position at SSA as a program and management analyst in
their Office of Research Evaluation and Statistics. In this role,
Rachel gained experience in data analytics and disability research. As a
program and management analyst, Rachel realized that she needed to gain
more skills in statistical analysis, so in May 2019, Rachel obtained
her M.A.S in Spatial Analysis from Johns Hopkins University. Rachel
looks forward to gaining more experience in the field of spatial and
statistical analysis.
