Shahzeen Nasim ’16
Domestic Violence Advocate, Turning Point for Women and Families
English Major
Shahzeen Nasim is a Domestic Violence Advocate at Turning Point for
Women and Families. She provides individual and group counseling to
survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, primarily in NYC's
Muslim community. She collaborates with a variety of professionals to
advocate for clients' needs, such as support with legal services,
housing, immigration, etc. Additionally, she develops the curriculum for
Turning Point's ESOL program.
Shahzeen graduated from Haverford College in 2016 with a BA in
English Literature. Previously, she interned at various arts
organizations including the Cooper Hewitt: Smithsonian Design Museum,
the Textile Arts Center, and the Cherry Buttons Co-operative in Sefrou,
Morocco. Shahzeen became passionate about sustainability in fashion
while working alongside the Cooper Hewitt's curatorial team on the
exhibition Scraps: Fashion, Textiles, and Creative Reuse. She continues
to learn about and practice principles of a zero-waste lifestyle.
