DocuLab 2020: “Animating Grief” Student Screening & Conversation
Friday 10/30
4pm
RSVP at hav.to/animatinggrief
Supported by Haverford’s Summer DocuLab initiative, five Tri-College students spent summer 2020 working on animation for the experimental documentary film Smile4Kime, directed by Mellon Post-Doctoral Fellow and Visiting Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Visual Studies Elena Guzman along with the film’s Executive Producer, animator/filmmaker Cybee Bloss.
During this virtual event, DocuLab student fellows Sam Berg, Cindy Ji, Shiko Njoroge, Zarahy Rivas, and Lyvia Yan will discuss their experiences working on Smile4Kime, sharing project excerpts and clips from the media the group studied, as well as talking about working alongside the film’s animation team on film production. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A., along with a sneak peek at this coming summer’s DocuLab 2021 project, “For, With, and Against the Camera: Performance Cinema.”
