Our first scheduled exhibition in 2022 in the Atrium Gallery Jane Lutnick Fine Art Center is  David Freese Photographs: The Geography of Climate Change is an exhibition consisting of 39 black and white, and toned landscape photographs. David Freese is the photographer/author of three photo books: West Coast: Bering to Baja, 2012; East Coast: Arctic to Tropic, 2016; and Mississippi River: Headwaters and Heartland to Delta and Gulf, 2020, which comprise a Trilogy on North American Waters in a time of rapid climate change.

A Philadelphia area based photographer, Freese has made highly detailed photographs of the Northern Hemisphere from the Arctic to the Mississippi River to the East Coast. His images are made with a sensibility that seeks to show vast areas of an eco-system by using new and old technologies to produce pinpoint-sharp photographs sufficed with light in the tradition of American Luminism from the 19th century. The vantage point gained from the air by using an airplane for higher altitude views and a drone for lower altitude views  show the scale of a geographic region from two vantage points by using 20th century and 21st century technologies.

His photographs made at ground level of flora, fauna, wildlife, and cultural sites when seen with his aerial views bring the viewer into a new awareness of the meaning of place and its fragility in the age of climate change.
