Jenny Bogoni is the executive director of Read by 4th, a citywide initiative managed by the Free Library of Philadelphia working to protect every child's right to read. A collective effort of more than 150 organizations, hundreds of individual volunteers, and countless small businesses, Read by 4th is transforming communities, mobilizing volunteers and engaging families to ensure children enter 4th grade reading on grade level. The campaign focuses on kindergarten readiness, school attendance, reading instruction, summer learning and home literacy routines. Prior to leading Read by 4th, Jenny has led a number of other nonprofit initiatives in Philadelphia on issues from the dropout crisis, social emotional development for middle schoolers, youth workforce development and civic engagement and volunteerism. A graduate of Haverford College with a B.A. in the growth and structure of cities, Jenny also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Gabon.
Simone Partridge knows the power of a good story. Simone is a communications strategist with a love of behavioral science, cities, and photography. But mostly she’s a storyteller looking to use creativity to make positive change. Simone recently joined Read by 4th as the Director of Communications. There, she’s focused on telling neighborhood stories, sharing family literacy lessons, and highlighting the great work of over 150 partner organizations. Previously, Simone worked at Ogilvy helping FEMA grow a culture of flood-readiness across the Mid-Atlantic. And before that, at Mighty Engine, where she made sure great nonprofits had communications to match. Although Simone graduated Haverford in 2014 as a Growth and Structure of Cities major, she can occasionally be spotted on campus making her way around the nature trail.
