Jennifer Waits (BA in Psychology, Haverford College '89 and MA in Popular Culture Studies, Bowling Green State University) is an independent scholar and Assistant Curator of the Digital Library of Amateur Radio and Communications (DLARC) at the Internet Archive. She is also the co-founder of Radio Survivor, a website, podcast and syndicated radio show devoted to radio and audio culture. With expertise in college radio history and culture, Jennifer serves on the Library of Congress’ Radio Preservation Task Force, for which she co-chairs a caucus focused on college and community radio. Her writing about radio and sound has appeared in academic, trade, and general interest publications, including Radio World, Radio Journal, Interactions: Studies in Communication and Culture, Hii Magazine, and Visual Arts Journal. Jennifer loves visiting radio stations and has chronicled her trips to 173 radio stations and counting. A college radio volunteer and DJ herself, she got her start spinning records at Haverford College's own WHRC-AM and has been fascinated by Haverford's rich radio history ever since.
